Question#1: Can you describe the first thing you ever designed, either as a mechanical engineer or before you started working in this field?

(This first question is designed to provide the interviewer with an opportunity to learn more about you, to get you talking about yourself, and to collect information that can be used in the subsequent questions.)

Sample Answer: Even when I was a small child, I often found myself imagining new shapes for things that were already well-known to me. My first thought was probably something like a Rube Goldberg machine, which would involve a lot of moving parts and eventually hand out some sort of reward, like a piece of candy. 

Another one of my creations is a robotic gadget that can pick up a tennis ball and place it in a basket after putting it through its paces. This was something that I did in order to compete with a group of my classmates when I was in high school. My interest in mechanical engineering as a viable field of professional study was aroused by projects such as these.

Question#2: According to you, what skills and qualities must any engineer have?

Question#3: How do you use a process flow diagram in the field of mechanical engineering?

But if I need to talk to a client about the entire idea or design, I'll set up a meeting, use a process flow diagram, break it down visually with step-by-step directions, and pause regularly to see if they have any questions, and answer them promptly and maintain total transparency, having patience is key here.

Question#4: Can you explain the different types of fits used in the United States? 

(This is more of an intellectual inquiry than anything else. The purpose of the technical questions that your interviewers will ask you is to determine how well-rounded your resume is. In response to any technical inquiries, you are expected to provide an answer that is succinct and direct.)

Sample Answer: There are three different fits that are recognized by the United States. They are as follows: transition fit, clearance fit, and interference fit. 

They talk about the gap that exists between the two parts. The term "interference fit" refers to a circumstance in which one of the components, such as the shaft, is significantly larger than the other, such as the hole. In situations in which the tolerances do not match, the two procedures described above are combined.

Question#5: Adding to your previous answer, please explain the necessity of tolerance in this field.
